Three Men Set Manjari Shop Ablaze in Early-Morning Attack

Pune, 10th September 2026: Three unidentified men allegedly set a shop on fire in Mahadevnagar in Manjari in the early hours of Monday after forcing open its shutter and pouring petrol inside, police said. The entire incident was captured on CCTV.

The incident took place around 3.15am when the trio arrived on a two-wheeler. CCTV footage showed two of them getting off the vehicle and forcing open the shop’s shutter, while the third remained on the motorcycle with the engine running.

One of the two men then moved away from the shop, while the other poured petrol inside and on the shutter before setting it ablaze. The two then fled and joined their accomplice waiting on the motorcycle.

The fire triggered panic among nearby residents and shopkeepers before it was brought under control. The shopkeeper is estimated to have suffered losses of Rs 4-5 lakh, police said.

The Manjari police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 326, which deals with mischief by fire or explosive substance causing damage to property.

The identity and motive of the accused are yet to be established. Police are examining CCTV footage to identify the three men and trace the two-wheeler used in the attack. Further investigation is underway.
