Pune: Three minor boys kill a man for Rs 500, inform his family on phone

Dehu Road, June 16, 2020: The Crime Branch Unit 5 of Pimpri Chinchwad police have arrested three juveniles accused after searching for the deceased’s family from the tags of his shirt and pant. For just Rs 500, the three minors murdered a 41-year-old man.

The deceased has been identified as Dattatraya Krishnaji Macharla. Three minor boys were on their way from Hyderabad to Mumbai to become underworld dons. They met Macharla at Nigdi while he was also walking to Mumbai. All of them were walking due to lockdown and not having more money to hire private vehicle. Around 2 am on June 8, they killed Macharla for just five hundred rupees. The body was found in a pool of blood on the Dehu Road railway bridge.

When Macharla’s body was found, he did not have an identity card or a mobile phone in his pocket. Assistant police inspector Ram Gomare from Crime Branch collected the collar tag of his shirt and the tag of his pant, which mentioned Prince Tailor BWD. The cops began the search to find out the identity of the deceased and soon police team reached Bhiwandi.

There were 25 tailors of the same name in Bhiwandi. After interacting with them, cops reached the deceased’s family. Meanwhile, they learnt that when the daughter of the deceased had called on his phone number, it was answered by a youth who said that they had killed him but she did not believe him then.

Police officials said that before the lockdown, Macharla from Bhiwandi had gone to attend funeral of a relative in Solapur. However, due to lockdown he got stuck there. Finally, he decided to walk from Solapur to Bhiwandi as he missed his wife and children. While walking to Bhiwandi from Solapur, three minor accused and Macharla met at Bhakti Shakti Chowk in Nigdi. The three demanded money from him. However, he did not have the money. As one of the three minors has a criminal background, he told the other accomplices to follow Dattatraya and wait for him to go to bed at midnight.

While Dattatraya was sleeping on the road side, the three killed him by throwing stones at his head. The three boys searched pockets of the deceased and could find only Rs 500 and a mobile phone. They stole the money and phone and fled. The main accused of the conspiracy is a teenager who was earlier lodged in a juvenile detention center in Mumbai. Later he was sent to Hyderabad detention centre where he met two other minors. He confessed to the police that the three were going to Mumbai to make it big in the crime world and become gangsters.
