Pune 14th Sept 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation has taken a strict action against three of its employees for negligence to take action against hoarding owners for violation. The civic body has suspended the licence inspectors in the matter after they failed to reply on the show-cause notices issued by the seniors over the issue. All three suspended officials were deployed at the Kasba Vishrambaug Ward office.

According to officials, it is mandatory to maintain a minimum distance of one meter between the hoardings after permission is granted. However, the civic body found three such hoardings near Sambhaji Police Chowki that were violating the rule. After receiving the complaints, the additional municipal commissioner and concerned officials of the signage department visited the spot and found violation of various rules while installing the hoardings. The license inspectors of the ward office were issued show cause notices on the matter but all of them failed to respond.

The Deputy Municipal Commissioner has issued suspension orders of Rajendra Kevate, Surendra Raut, and Laxmikant Shinde for negligence. The officials were also instructed to restrict advertisements on the hoardings in question after the inspection but the concerned officials did not take action and the hoarding owners continued to display the advertisements. A divisional enquiry will be conducted on the three suspended officers for negligence and further action will be taken against them according to the rule, said officials.
