Pune: Three Youths Dead After Being Hit by Pune–Daund Train; Police Investigation Underway

Manjari, 17th November 2025: Three youths died on the spot after being hit by a Pune–Daund DEMU train in the Gopalpatti area near the railway station on Sunday night. The incident occurred around 8:30 pm, prompting immediate response from the Hadapsar Police and Government Railway Police (GRP). The case has sparked concern in the area, drawing attention to unsafe movement near railway tracks.

The deceased have been identified as Prathamesh Nitin Tinde (18), a resident of Kalepadal, Hadapsar; Tanmay Mahendra Tupe (18), from Vishal Colony near Dhere Bungalow in Gopalpatti; and Tushar Shinde (19), also from Gopalpatti, Hadapsar.

According to police officials, the Pune–Daund DEMU had just departed from Pune station and was heading towards Daund when the accident occurred. Five friends had reportedly gathered near the railway tracks. While three were struck by the train, the two others fled the spot in fear.

Upon receiving information, teams from the Hadapsar Police Station and GRP rushed to the spot. A panchnama was conducted, and the bodies were sent to Sassoon General Hospital for post-mortem examination.

An accidental death report has been registered at Hadapsar Police Station. Officers said the investigation is underway to determine why the youths had gone near the tracks and how exactly the accident unfolded.

Police added that the full sequence of events will become clear only after the probe is completed.
