Pune to Host 5th Vrukshathon Half Marathon on June 7; Participants to Receive Saplings
Pune, 14th May 2026: In a unique blend of fitness and environmental advocacy, the Pune City Police, the Forest Department, and the Vrukshathon Foundation have announced the fifth edition of the “Vrukshathon Half Marathon.” The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the Police Ground in Shivajinagar, Pune.
Carrying the theme “Run for Health, Run for Environment,” the marathon aims to promote a healthier lifestyle among citizens while raising awareness about sustainable living and the critical need for tree plantation. In a distinctive “green” move, every participant in the marathon will be presented with a native sapling, symbolizing a collective commitment to a greener future.
The event features four race categories to ensure wide participation:

Half Marathon (21.1 KM)
Joint Commissioner of Police (Pune City) Ranjan Kumar Sharma (IPS), Conservator of Forests (Pune Division) Ashish Thakare (IFS), and Vrukshathon Foundation Founder-Director Vijay Gaikwad have issued an earnest appeal to the public to participate in the initiative. The organizers expect a large turnout of students, youth, corporate representatives, and fitness enthusiasts from across Maharashtra.
