Pune, 30th December 2024: The inaugural International Phule Festival, organized under the Bhidewada International Kavya Jagar Abhiyan, will take place from 2nd to 5th January 2025 at the SM Joshi Foundation auditorium in Navi Peth. The event will run daily from 9 am to 9 pm, showcasing a rich blend of poetry, literature, and art.

The festival’s primary organizer, poet Vijay Vadverao, announced in a press conference that the event will bring together 600 poets, writers, intellectuals, and artists from Maharashtra and overseas. Arvind Bansode was also present during the briefing. Vadverao revealed that the festival will be inaugurated by poets from Dubai, adding a global dimension to the celebration.

The event is rooted in the historical significance of Bhidewada, where Jyotiba Phule established India’s first school for girls in Budhwar Peth. The festival aims to preserve this legacy, promote Phule’s work, and inspire future generations to carry forward his vision of social reform and education.

A highlight of the festival will be the presentation of the International Phule Premi Samaj Ratna Award to 25 poets and activists from around the world who have contributed significantly to the Bhidewada campaign. These individuals have been recognized for their efforts in preserving and propagating Phule’s ideology.

Vadverao also emphasized that all programs during the festival will have free entry, ensuring accessibility for all attendees.
