Pune, 8th February 2025: A comprehensive tourism plan for Pune district will be developed using artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technology, focusing on key attractions such as historical forts, religious sites, biodiversity hotspots, water tourism, adventure sports, and cultural landmarks.

District Collector Jitendra Dudi has directed officials to begin work on the initiative, emphasizing the preservation and promotion of Pune’s heritage and natural beauty. A meeting was held at the Collectorate office to discuss the ‘Pune District Comprehensive Tourism Plan’, attended by key officials, including Deputy Conservator of Forests Mahadev Mohite, Pune Regional Deputy Director of the Directorate of Tourism Shama Pawar, and other senior representatives from the Public Works and Archaeological Departments.

Dudi highlighted the historic forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, stressing the need to attract domestic and international tourists. He urged officials to focus on employment generation, local folk traditions, and environmental conservation while designing the tourism plan.

“Tourist destinations should be identified based on their potential to boost revenue and create jobs for locals. At the same time, it is essential to maintain cleanliness, prevent pollution, and ensure environmental sustainability,” said Dudi.

The plan will also integrate online resources, allowing tourists to access real-time information on roads, accommodations, restaurants, travel facilities, and medical assistance. Renowned tourism experts will be consulted to shape the strategy.

Tourism Festival for Global Promotion
To further promote Pune’s tourism sector on an international level, a Tourism Festival is planned for November or December. The event will serve as a global showcase of Pune’s rich cultural and natural heritage, with tourism-related social organizations invited to participate.
