Pune to host Women Writer’s Festival
Pune, August 30, 2018: SheThePeople TV, a digital storytelling platform for women achievers, women entrepreneurs and women startups is organising a Women Writer’s Festival in the city. The Festival will encompass both fiction and nonfiction writing. It will also showcase women in other creative spaces such as radio jockeys, stand up artists and story tellers. The Pune edition of the festival will be held at Kala Kollective, Ekbote Colony, Off Shankarsheth Road on September 8 at 10 am. The event is free and open for all with a mandatory registration on SheThePeople website.
In this edition of the SheThePeople Women Writer’s Fest, there are speakers like Uma Kulkarni, Sahitya Academy awardee, Leena Sohoni, Tanushree Podder, Kiran Manral, Sudha Menon, Sowmya Rajendran, Pervin Saket, Swati Shome, Lalitha Suhasini , Sucharita Dutta-Asane, Swati Raje, Archana Pai Kulkarni and Anjali Shetty, discussing a range of diverse topics.
A Panel Discussion is curated at the Fest, it will delve deep into topics such as the changing paradigms of regional literature and writing, women writing horror, sex, lust and humour and writing through gender lens.
Shaili Chopra, Founder SheThePeople said, “We need to celebrate writing across genres, way beyond literature. We have women ahead in short stories, business and entrepreneurship and more. As part our effort to do more with writers across India, this is a first of a kind festival that promises to ignite rising minds.”

In the festival, city’s RJ and MJs like RJ Shubhra, MJ Tia, RJ Shonali and RJ Smita will be in conversation with Sudha Menon. A trio of Pune’s female stand up artists, Aayushi Jagad, Niki Ray and Swati Mantrii will entertain the audience with their acts and story tellers Kakoli Bagchi and Seema Gaurav will keep audiences riveted with the ancient art of storytelling.
Well-known actor, script writer and Poet Vibhawari Deshpande will present her take on writing through the gender lens. Book lovers and real-life couples, Neha and Vishal Pipariya of Pagdandi bookstore and Ramesh and Rasika Rathavdekar of Akshardhaara
will talk about how they are reviving the reading habit and transforming their bookstores into cultural hubs.
