Pune To Jodhpur Superfast Express To Run Daily; Booking To Begin Soon After Years Of Demand

Pune, 29th April 2025: The Ministry of Railways has approved a daily train service between Pune and Jodhpur, offering significant relief to the Rajasthani community in the region. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that Superfast Express trains numbered 20495 (Jodhpur–Hadapsar) and 20496 (Hadapsar–Jodhpur) will soon operate regularly from Hadapsar railway station.
The approval follows persistent efforts by the Rajasthani Samaj Sangh, whose continuous advocacy led to the fulfillment of this long-standing demand. “Travel between the two cities will now become safer and more convenient. Ticket booking will commence shortly,” said Magaraj Rathi, president of the Rajasthani Samaj Sangh.
For several years, the Rajasthani community in Pune district had been demanding a daily rail service between Pune and Jodhpur. Support for the demand came from various leaders, including Rajasthan MP P.P. Chaudhary, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Pune MP and Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and Maval MP Shrirang Barne, who consistently pursued the matter with the Railway Minister.
The Rajasthani Samaj Sangh organized protests, submitted representations, and held meetings to highlight the need for daily connectivity. Although a weekly train service had started earlier, the community had been seeking a daily service, which has now been approved.
Currently, around 60 to 70 buses operate daily between Pune and Jodhpur. However, frequent accidents and casualties during bus journeys had caused widespread concern among travelers. “Many innocent lives were lost in bus accidents. The introduction of a daily train service will provide a safer, affordable, and more comfortable alternative for travelers,” Rathi said. He thanked the Railway Ministry, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and all other stakeholders for their efforts, expressing hope that the service would begin soon.
The Superfast Express will halt at major stations such as Pali, Marwar, Abu Road, Palanpur, Mehsana, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, Vasai Road, Kalyan, Lonavala, and Chinchwad.
Operating from Hadapsar railway station, the new service will offer significant convenience to passengers from Pune and surrounding areas, particularly benefiting the large Rajasthani population residing along the route.
