Viman Nagar, 29th April 2025: A leopard was spotted twice near the runway area of Pune Airport on Monday, prompting swift action by the Forest Department and wildlife rescue NGO RESQ.

The wild animal was seen once in the morning and again around 8 pm, triggering a precautionary search operation across the airport premises.

Joint teams from the Forest Department and RESQ have been deployed to trace the leopard’s movements. Officials confirmed that two trap cages were installed late Monday night, and camera traps have also been activated to track the animal’s location and activity.

“Efforts are underway this morning to identify zones of frequent leopard activity using a dog squad,” a forest officer said on Tuesday.

Despite the leopard sightings, flight operations at Pune Airport remain unaffected, according to officials.

The Forest Department and RESQ team continue to jointly monitor the area to ensure public safety and the safe rescue of the animal.
