Pune, 19th December 2024: Pune has topped Maharashtra in terms of revenue generated by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses in the month of November, with the MSRTC earning Rs 56 Crore from Pune District alone. The strong revenue performance was driven by factors such as the model code of conduct for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections, Diwali holidays, a 50% concession in travel fares for women, free travel for senior citizens above 75 years, and a concession on fare hikes.

Out of 31 districts in Maharashtra, MSRTC earned a record income of Rs 941 Crore in November. Notably, the Pune district contributed the highest revenue of Rs 56 Crore, securing the top spot in the revenue rankings. Maharashtra has six MSRTC divisions: Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Nashik, and Amravati. Among these, the Pune Division had the highest number of bus journeys in November. Pune division covers five districts—Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur, and Pune—and earned the highest income of Rs 230 crore. Within this, Pune district contributed Rs 56.18 Crore, the highest for any district in the division.

Dr Madhav Kusekar, Managing Director of MSRTC, said, “This year, without a fare hike, the revenue generated in November is the highest and record-breaking of any month in the year. It is a testament to the trust shown by ordinary passengers in MSRTC.”

The department-wise income across various regions is as follows: Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar reported Rs 204.08 Crore, Mumbai earned Rs 143.78 Crore, Nagpur’s income stood at Rs 88.97 Crore, and Pune topped the list with Rs 230.77 Crore. Nashik generated Rs 181.84 Crore, and Amravati’s income was Rs 92,07 Crore. These figures highlight the significant contributions of each region to the overall income across the state.
