Donje, 6th September 2021: While Sinhgad fort is closed to tourists, a different picture has come to light. Due to ‘negligence’ of forest staff, many people are going to the fort. Young men and women are seen performing deadly stunts standing in dangerous places on a cliff as high as 150 to 200 feet high.

Pune District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh has imposed a curfew at tourist places, dam areas, and forts in the district. The order seems to be ignored by forest staff. Some tourists are sent back from the checkpost while others are allowed to go to the fort ‘conveniently’. Moreover, some tourists are being sent to the fort by shifting their vehicles and correspondingly transporting passengers. The concerned transporters are forcing them to pay Rs 150-170 from passengers.

Tourists who come to the fort in local vehicles are allowed inside by the staff sitting at the closed door. However, walking tourists or those coming to the fort in their vehicles seem to be being obstructed. While tourists are performing deadly stunts on dangerous ridges on the fort, these forest staff seem to be neglecting it.
