Pune, 7th July 2026: Commuters travelling between Mahalunge and Nande will have to take alternate routes after the bridge connecting the two areas was closed for emergency repair work following damage caused by continuous heavy rainfall.

The decision was taken after a section of the bridge’s approach road was washed away due to incessant rains, raising safety concerns for motorists. To prevent any untoward incidents, authorities have suspended vehicular movement on the bridge until restoration work is completed.

The closure is likely to impact daily traffic, particularly for residents travelling to and from Hinjawadi, Baner, Sus and neighbouring localities. Traffic has been diverted through alternate routes, and commuters have been advised to expect delays during peak hours.

Repair work began soon after the damage was reported, with officials working to restore the affected stretch at the earliest. The bridge will remain closed until engineers confirm that it is safe for public use.

The development comes as Pune district continues to receive heavy rainfall, with several roads reporting waterlogging, damaged infrastructure and traffic disruptions over the past few days. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall and to follow traffic advisories issued by the administration.

Motorists are advised to use the designated diversions until the bridge is reopened. Further updates are expected once the repair work is completed.
