Pune: Traffic Congestion Solutions For Chakan Discussed At Meeting Held By Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao
Pune, 25th October 2023: In the bustling Chakan industrial area, which has seen substantial growth in both industries and residential neighbourhoods, traffic congestion has become a major concern. The Talegaon Chowk and Ambethan Chowk intersections in Chakan have been experiencing severe traffic jams, causing delays for the industrial workforce and impacting productivity.
In response to numerous complaints from industrial organizations, Pune Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao convened a meeting of key stakeholders to address these issues.
The meeting, held at Vidhan Bhavan Pune on Monday, saw the participation of various prominent figures, including Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, and other prominent office bearers.
Chakan, a rapidly growing industrial hub, is experiencing a surge in both industrial and residential development. With a large working-class population and significant goods traffic, the region has been grappling with traffic congestion at the Talegaon Chowk and Ambethan Chowk intersections.
During the meeting, several crucial decisions were made to alleviate the traffic woes in the Chakan industrial area:
1. Relocation of ST Stops: The meeting resolved to move the ST stops at Talegaon Chowk and Ambethan Chowk 100 meters ahead to improve traffic flow.
2. Labor Camp Relocation: It was decided to shift the labour camp at Talegaon Chowk to a different location.
3. Encroachment Removal: Authorities committed to removing encroachments in the affected areas within the next seven days.
4. Water Accumulation Mitigation: Measures will be taken to address water accumulation issues on the roads.
5. Bridge Structural Audit: A structural audit of the bridge near the police station at Mahalunge will be conducted, with immediate repair work planned to prevent potential accidents.
6. Road Survey and Planning: On Friday (27th), the concerned police administration, MSEDCL, Federation of Chakan Industries, MCCIA, and municipal representatives will conduct a road survey to implement effective planning solutions for the Chakan area.
These decisions aim to streamline traffic in Chakan, ensuring that employees can reach their workplaces promptly and maintain the region’s productivity. The collaborative efforts of government authorities and industrial organizations demonstrate a commitment to addressing and resolving the challenges posed by the rapid growth of this industrially vibrant area.
