Pune, 23rd December 2022: The traffic booths built for traffic control in the major chowks of the central region have become unusable. These booths are not being used by the traffic police, but the traffic is obstructed due to the booths built in the busy intersections.

Two months ago, an organization for the traffic police constructed traffic booths in different areas including Lal Mahal Chowk on Shivaji Road, Hutatma Smarak Chowk (Budhwar Chowk), Belbaug Chowk, Appa Balwant Chowk on Bajirao Road.

The organization builds those booths for the traffic police to protect themselves from heat, wind, and rain in the busy square. However, these booths are not used by the traffic police. These booths built at major intersections have become a problem as there are no policemen in these booths built to control the traffic in the central area. It was seen that the police were stopping at the intersection and controlling the traffic.

Shivaji road and Bajirao road in the central area are crowded with vehicles. Even walking through these areas has become difficult.

Arjun Botre, senior police inspector of the planning department of the traffic branch was contacted about this and he said, the traffic booth in the central part will be inspected. If the traffic is obstructed due to this booth, it will be informed to the senior authorities and appropriate action will be taken.

Complaints about improperly constructed booths on busy central roads have been made by the traffic police on condition of anonymity. The roads and squares in the central area are narrow. These booths have been constructed incorrectly. If the number of vehicles and traffic pressure is taken into consideration, it becomes easier to stop at the square and control the traffic, said the traffic police.
