Pune: Traffic Diversion On Shivaji Road Due To Sankashti Chaturthi On Thursday

Pune, 8th February 2023: In the backdrop of ‘Sankashti Chaturthi’ on Thursday, a large number of devotees are expected to seek blessings of Lord Ganesha at the Shrimant Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple from early morning. Therefore, Pune traffic police has issued an advisory about closure of Shivaji Road for heavy vehicles except for PMPML buses and emergency vehicles (police, fire brigade, ambulance) from 6 am till the number of devotees reduces.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vijaykumar Magar has issued an order in this regard. All types of heavy traffic (except PMPML buses) going from SG Barve Chowk to Swargate via Shivaji Road are being banned. Temporary no-parking / no-halting is being implemented from Premier Garage Chowk to (Opposite Mangala Theatre) Nagdev Oil Depot Chowk.

Regarding PMPML buses:

Circular Bus Route at PMC building: There will be a circular traffic route from Premier Garage Chowk, Mangla Theater, turn right to Khude Chowk, turn right to Pune Municipal Court Corner, Premier Garage Chowk.

PMPML buses going towards Swargate via Shivaji Maharaj Road will take a left turn from Premier Garage Chowk in front of Mangala Theater and then turn right to Khude Chowk, Balgandharva Chowk, turn left for going to Khandojibaba Chowk, Alka Talkies Chowk, Tilak Road via Puram Chowk.

Buses going to Pune Station via Shivaji Maharaj Road will take a left turn at Premier Garage Chowk and then turn left in front of Mangala Theatre, turn right at Nationalist Congress Bhawan, turn left at Kumbharves Chowk to reach Shahir Amar Sheikh Chowk (Juna Bazaar chowk) and then proceed to your destination.

Buses coming from Kothrud and going to Pune Station via Appa Balwant Chowk will take Bajirao Road and turn right at Gadgil Putla Chowk and proceed to Pune Station via Kumbharves Chowk.

Traffic diversion for other two-wheelers and light four-wheelers

All traffic (except PMPML buses) on the road leading to Mangla Theater by turning left from Premier Garage Chowk is being diverted.

Alternate Route : The said vehicles will go straight from SG Barve Chowk on Jangli Maharaj Road and turn left at Balangdharv Chowk to the desired destination.

From Jijamata Chowk, use of alternative route to Swargate: 

Alternative routes:

1) Jijamata Chowk turn left to Ganesh Road to Phadke Houd Chowk, Devjibaba Chowk, right to Hamjekhan Chowk straight to Maharana Pratap Road or right to Laxmi Road to Sonya Maruti Chowk, Belbaug Chowk, turn left to Shivaji Road to the desired destination.

2) From Shivaji Bridge, take Gadgil Putla Chowk, turn left to Kumbharves Chowk, Shahir Amar Sheikh Chowk (Juna Bazaar Chowk) and proceed to your destination.

3) While proceeding from Shivaji Bridge to Phadke Houd Chowk via Gadgil Putla Chowk (excluding the road leading to Vithoba Mandir), vehicles will take a left turn at Jijamata Chowk itself.

All traffic from Appa Balwant Chowk to Budhwar Chowk is being diverted through an alternate route:

Alternate route :- The said vehicles will go to the destination via Appa Balwant Chowk, Bajirao Road.
