Pune: Traffic Diversions Announced for Angarki Chaturthi on September 29 in Peth Areas

Pune, 28th September 2026: Traffic diversions will take effect in central Pune from 6 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, until the crowds disperse, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr Sandeep Bhajibhakare said in a press note issued on Monday.

A large number of devotees are expected to visit the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati temple for Angarki Chaturthi, raising the possibility of congestion on Shivaji Road, Laxmi Road and nearby streets, the DCP said. The changes apply to PMPML buses, cars and heavy vehicles. Emergency vehicles, including fire engines and ambulances, are exempt.

The DCP announced the following arrangements:

Vehicles travelling from Puram Chowk towards Shivajinagar via Bajirao Road should instead take Tilak Road, pass Alka Talkies Chowk and continue via Fergusson College Road.

Vehicles travelling from Shivaji Road towards Swargate should take Jangli Maharaj Road from S. G. Barve Chowk, then travel via Khandobaba Chowk, Tilak Chowk and Tilak Road.

Traffic from Appa Balwant Chowk towards Budhwar Chowk will be stopped and directed straight along Bajirao Road.

PMPML buses travelling from S. G. Barve Chowk towards the Pune Municipal Corporation building should take Jangli Maharaj Road and turn left at Jhansi Rani Chowk.

Traffic from Ganesh Road towards Devjibaba and Jijamata Chowk should travel via Apollo Talkies, Narpatgiri Chowk, Daruwala Bridge and Budhwar.

Vehicles travelling from Jijamata Chowk on Shivaji Road towards Daruwala Bridge via Ganesh Road should turn left at Gadgil Statue and proceed via Kumbharves Chowk, Pawale Chowk and Saat Toti police chowky.

The diversions are intended to keep traffic moving safely and smoothly around the temple area during the expected rush, the DCP said.
