Pune: Traffic Jam On Ahmednagar Road As Chemical Tanker Overturns Near Hyatt Hotel In Viman Nagar
Viman Nagar, 27th November 2023: A tanker carrying Ethylene Oxide overturned near Hyatt Hotel, leading to a significant air leakage around 3 am, on the Pune-Ahmednagar road. The Pune and PMRDA fire brigades have promptly deployed a total of 8 fire engines to manage the situation.
Considering the potential danger posed by the air leakage, authorities have initiated water spray on the overturned tanker. This precautionary measure is being implemented until assistance from the Reliance Petrochemicals Company arrives at the spot.
In response to the incident, the traffic police department has taken measures to regulate traffic in the affected area.
Traffic Police officer Manohar Idekar told Punekar News, “In light of the potential hazards, we have converted the affected road into a one-way lane to prevent further accidents. While representatives from the gas company are on-site, we are awaiting the arrival of transportation experts to safely manage the gas leakage.”
As a consequence of the one-way traffic arrangement, major congestion is reported on Ahmednagar Road, particularly near the Hyatt Hotel in Viman Nagar. Commuters are advised to use alternative routes.
