Pune Traffic Police Announce Diversions in Peth Areas Today for ‘Nachnichi Bhakri’ Procession
Kasba Peth, 23rd April 2026: Commuters traveling through the central parts of Pune city today should anticipate route changes, as the Pune City Traffic Police have announced temporary traffic diversions to accommodate the traditional “Nachnichi Bhakri” procession.
The restrictions will be in effect today, Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
The procession will commence at the Kalbhairavnath Mandir and conclude at the Chota Sheikh Sallah Dargah. Given the large number of devotees expected to participate, the diversions have been implemented within the Faraskhana Traffic Division’s jurisdiction to prevent severe congestion and ensure public safety.
According to the official press release issued by Sandeep Bhajibhakare, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) holding additional charge of the Traffic Branch, all essential service vehicles, including fire brigades and ambulances, will be exempt from these restrictions.
Procession Route: To help citizens avoid the immediate crowd, authorities have released the exact route of the procession: Trimurti Chowk – Yojna Bakery Chowk – Devjibaba Chowk – R.C.M. Gujarati High School – Phadke Haud Chowk – Vyavahar Ali – KCC Class – Satatoti Chowki – Adab Galli – Bhoi Ali Chowk – culminating at Chota Sheikh Sallah Dargah.
Alternative Routes & Traffic Changes: The traffic branch has implemented the following diversions for PMPML buses, four-wheelers, and heavy vehicles between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM:
Towards Phadke Haud: Vehicles traveling from Kumbharves Chowk toward Phadke Haud via Pavale Chowk will be halted.
Alternative: Commuters must take a right turn from Kumbharves Chowk and proceed via Shahir Amar Shaikh Chowk towards Gadgil Putala.
Towards Daruwala Pul: PMPML buses and four-wheelers traveling from Shivaji Road via Jijamata Chowk to Ganesh Road towards Daruwala Pul will be stopped.
Alternative: Vehicles must turn left at Gadgil Putala and proceed via Kumbharves Chowk and Shahir Amar Shaikh Chowk.
From Ganesh Road: PMPML buses and four-wheelers moving from Ganesh Road towards Devjibaba and Jijamata Chowk will be blocked.
Alternative: Vehicles should detour via Apollo Talkies, Narpatgiri Chowk, Daruwala Pul, and Dudhbhatti to reach their destinations.
From Laxmi Road: PMPML buses and four-wheelers heading from Laxmi Road via Sonya Maruti Chowk towards Pavale Chowk (via Phadke Haud Chowk) will be halted.
Alternative: Vehicles must take a left turn at Phadke Haud Chowk and proceed via Jijamata Chowk.
Citizens and regular commuters are advised to plan their evening travel accordingly and use the suggested alternative routes to avoid delays.
