Pune Traffic Police Cap Speed Limit at 40 kmph on Katraj Bypass Between Bhumkar and Navale Bridges
Pune, 4th December 2025: To reduce accidents caused by overspeeding, Pune Traffic Police have imposed a maximum speed limit of 40 kmph on the Katraj Bypass stretch from Bhumkar Bridge to Navale Bridge, effective immediately. The restriction applies to all vehicles except emergency service vehicles such as fire trucks, police vehicles, and ambulances.
The directive, issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himat Jadhav, has been implemented under Sections 115, 116(1)(2)(b), 116(4), and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act, and supersedes all previous speed-related orders for this section.
Drivers are advised to regularly monitor their speedometers and strictly follow all traffic signs and road markings. Enforcement will be strengthened through CCTV surveillance and speed gun monitoring, with penalties for violations as per the law.
The Pune Traffic Police urged motorists to cooperate, emphasizing that the measure is intended to ensure safer and smoother traffic flow along this busy bypass.
