Pune Traffic Police PSI Transferred, Fined Rs 5,000 After Viral Leg Massage Video
Reported by Sumit Singh
Kalyani Nagar, 5th June 2024: The Police Sub Inspector (PSI) of the traffic branch of Pune city police, seen in a viral video receiving a leg massage from a youth, has been transferred to the police control room and fined Rs 5,000. This information was confirmed by DCP (Traffic) Rohidas Pawar.
The incident occurred during a routine drunk driving check in Kalyani Nagar a few days ago. A police officer, while inspecting vehicles, asked a youth to press his legs, leading to public outrage after the video went viral.
“PSI Gorade, age 57, of the Yerwada Traffic Division, was conducting a drunk driving check at Adlabs Chowk, Kalyani Nagar. After working continuous night shifts for two days followed by day duty, his blood sugar level rose to 550. Consequently, he experienced a leg cramp and suddenly sat down on the ground. The person in the footage helped relieve the cramp in his leg,” DCP Pawar told Punekar News earlier.
The video shows the youth pressing the officer’s legs while other officers and motorists looked on, sparking widespread criticism. Many have questioned the appropriateness of the officer’s conduct.
“Even if the PSI had a cramp, he should not have behaved like that,” DCP Pawar added.
