Pune Traffic Police PTP App Helps Collect Rs 12 Crore in Fines, Wins 107th SKOCH Award
Pune, 12th March 2026: In a significant recognition of digital innovation in governance, the Pune City Traffic Police’s PTP (Public-Traffic-Police) Traffic App has been conferred with the 107th SKOCH Award. The award, considered one of India’s highest independent civilian honors, recognizes the department’s efforts in using technology to bridge the gap between citizens and law enforcement.
The PTP Traffic App was conceptualized to empower the ‘policemen in plain clothes’—the conscious citizens of Pune. Launched on June 14, 2025, under the guidance of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and Joint Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma, the project was spearheaded by Manoj Patil (Additional Commissioner of Police, East Regional Division) and DCP (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav with technical support from Omni Bridge Technology Pvt. Ltd.
Since its launch approximately eight months ago, the app has seen remarkable engagement and tangible results, informed Additional CP Patil:
User Base: More than 140,000 citizens have registered on the app.
Violation Reporting: Citizens have submitted over 200,000 reports of traffic rule violations.
Revenue Generation: Based on these citizen reports, the traffic department has issued and collected fines exceeding ₹12 Crores.
Civic Issue Resolution: Beyond traffic violations, the app allows reporting of infrastructure issues such as potholes, traffic jams, oil spills, and fallen trees. Out of over 5,400 such incidents reported, approximately 80% have been resolved through coordination with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
The SKOCH Award selection involved a rigorous multi-stage evaluation process, including project registration, shortlisting, and a presentation made by Additional CP Manoj Patil. The final selection was determined by a combination of expert jury evaluation and nationwide online public voting, where the PTP app emerged as a winner in the governance and digital innovation category.
The official announcement was made on March 11, 2026. The award will be formally presented during the 107th SKOCH Summit on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Silver Oak Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
Additional CP Manoj Patil expressed that this national recognition serves as an inspiration to continue implementing technology-driven initiatives for a safer and more disciplined traffic environment in Pune.
