Hadapsar, 2nd September 2023: In a bid to alleviate chronic traffic congestion and persistent bottlenecks plaguing the Hadapsar-BRTS road, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated the removal of the cycle track near Vaiduwadi. This decision follows technical directives from Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and aims to significantly improve traffic flow and overall road conditions in the area.

The cycle track, originally introduced to promote eco-friendly commuting, had inadvertently contributed to worsening traffic conditions. To rectify this, the PMC commenced the dismantling of the cycle track on the night of August 28, 2023. This move will facilitate the road’s widening, effectively mitigating traffic congestion issues.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who recently visited Hadapsar to inaugurate a towering 106-foot national flag, was made aware of the traffic concerns by former corporator Yogesh Sasane during his visit. Sasane emphasized the urgency of widening the Hadapsar-Vaiduwadi road by removing the cycle track to alleviate congestion. He expressed optimism that this action would significantly ease traffic woes in the Hadapsar and Vaiduwadi areas.

While the exact timeline for the project’s completion remains uncertain, authorities are committed to executing it swiftly. Further plans include the removal of bus stops between Vaiduwadi and Magarpatta Corner to streamline traffic flow in the region.

Traffic congestion has been a longstanding issue in Hadapsar and Vaiduwadi, with the road, designated as a BRT route, witnessing frequent accidents. Residents have persistently called for road widening through the removal of the cycle track, and the PMC has now taken decisive steps to address this concern and enhance commuting conditions for the local population.
