Pune Tragedy: Son’s Neglect Leads Parents to Court, Mother Dies Days After Verdict

Pune, 26th March 2025: In a heartbreaking incident that highlights the growing strain in family relationships, an elderly couple in Pune was forced to take legal action against their son, whom they had raised with immense struggle. The case, which ended with a court ruling in favor of the parents, took a tragic turn as the mother passed away within a week of the verdict, while the father suffered a brain hemorrhage.

According to Advocate Janhvi Bhosale, who handled the case, the elderly couple had three daughters and had worked hard to raise their only son. However, after getting married, the son chose to live separately due to conflicts with his in-laws. Despite his father surviving on a meager pension of ₹1,300, the son refused to provide financial support.

Left with no choice, the parents approached the court, which ruled that the son must provide financial assistance. However, just eight days after the verdict, the mother suffered a fatal heart attack. To make matters worse, the son initially refused to attend her funeral. It was only after repeated pleas from relatives that he agreed to participate in the last rites, though his wife did not accompany him.

Now, with the father suffering from a brain hemorrhage, a crucial question remains—who will take care of him in his vulnerable state? This tragic case serves as a stark reminder of the responsibilities children have toward their aging parents and the emotional toll of neglect within families.
