Pimpri-Chinchwad, 11th November 2025: A peaceful early-morning Wari march towards Alandi turned into a horrifying scene when a container truck, allegedly out of control, crashed into a group of Warkaris near the Kamshet Ghat on the old Pune–Mumbai highway. One woman died on the spot, while eight others sustained injuries.

Police identified the victim as 55-year-old Priyanka Tandel, who was part of the Shri Davji Patil Dindi that had commenced its pilgrimage from Uran. The incident occurred around 6 a.m., as hundreds of devotees were walking through the ghat section.

According to initial findings, the truck driver lost control of the vehicle while navigating the downhill stretch, causing the heavy container to suddenly swerve into the marching devotees. The collision triggered panic in the procession, with Warkaris desperately trying to escape the vehicle’s path.

Emergency services were immediately alerted, and the injured devotees were taken to a nearby hospital, where all eight were reported to be in stable condition. The accident also caused a brief traffic snarl on the route, which was later cleared following police intervention.

Authorities have launched a probe into the driver’s alleged negligence and the circumstances that caused the fatal crash. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
