Pune: Tragic Death At Phoenix Mall In Viman Nagar Raises Questions – Accident or Suicide?
Viman Nagar, 23rd September 2023: A tragic incident occurred on Friday evening when a 25-year-old man fell from the seventh floor of the parking lot at Phoenix Mall in Viman Nagar, Pune.
The deceased has been identified as Richard Able Zakaria, a resident of Phulenagar Yerawada, Pune. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, leading to speculation about whether it was an accident or a suicide.
The Incident
According to the Vimantal (airport) police station officials, their control room received a call around 5 pm on Friday, reporting that a young man had sustained severe injuries after falling from the seventh floor of the parking lot at Phoenix Mall in Viman Nagar. Police immediately rushed to the scene. Zakaria was transported to Sassoon Hospital with critical injuries, where he was pronounced dead before medical treatment could be administered.
Employment and Personal Life
Richard Zakaria was employed at a private finance company in Viman Nagar. He had reported to work as usual on Friday morning. Later in the evening, he visited Phoenix Mall, where the tragic incident occurred.
Zakaria is survived by his elderly parents, and his sudden death has left his family, friends, and relatives in a state of shock.
Ongoing Investigation
The airport police have registered a case of sudden death and are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the nature of the incident. Assistant Police Inspector Kadir Deshmukh and Police Naik Vijay Bhosale were among the first to arrive at the scene. They have sent the body to Sassoon Hospital for an autopsy. Assistant Police Inspector Deshmukh is leading the investigation under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Vilas Sonde.
The authorities are working to ascertain whether Zakaria’s fall was an unfortunate accident or a deliberate act.
