Pune : Mandai Area Records 97.3 Decibel Noise Level On First Day Of Ganesh Festival, Reveals MPCB Data

Pune 23rd Sept 2023: The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) data has revealed that the noise level rules are not being followed at many locations during the Ganesh festival in the city. The officials monitored noise levels at 18 locations across the city on September 19 and 20 and the data has revealed that the highest noise level on September 19 was recorded in Mandai area.

According to the officials, Mandai area recorded 97.5 decibels noise which was recorded the highest noise level in the city for a day. The standard limit allowed for the noise level as per MPCB rule is 55 decibels during a day. The MPCB will carry out monitoring for five days during the festival including September 19, 20, 22, 25 and 28.

A total of 18 locations have been finalised in the city where the monitoring will be conducted. Similar excercise will be carried out in other parts of Maharashtra as well. A total of 132 locations have been finalised for noise level monitoring across the state with highest being in Mumbai with 25 locations followed by 18 in Pune.
