Pune trained construction workers grab the Medallion for Excellence at ‘WorldSkills-Kazan’

Pune, August 30, 2019: Two construction workers trained under the ‘Kushal’ initiative of CREDAI Pune Metro have made the nation proud by winning the ‘Medallion for Excellence’ in Wall and Floor Tiling and Bricklaying category at the ‘45th WorldSkills 2019’ competition recently held in Kazan, Russia.

Contestant, Mohammad Rabith won the honour by participating in Wall and Floor Tiling category, while another contestant, Ramjan Momin achieved success in the Bricklaying category. The winners were announced at a glittering ceremony at the 45th WorldSkills competition in the capital of Tatarstan, Kazan.The six-day WordSkill competition, which commenced on August 22 saw more than 1,300 competitors from around the globe competing across 56 different skills.

Momin and Rabith had also shined in the same categories in the international competition – ‘Danish Talent Camp’, held in Denmark in July 2019.

“It is an achievement and a matter of pride for us as both our competitors came back with Medallion for Excellence while representing India. Their efforts, confidence and morale were boosted by a team of experts and interpreters of Kushal who coached and mentored them tirelessly while checking each and every module done by them,” said J.P. Shroff, Chairman, Kushal and Labour Welfare Committee of CREDAI- Pune Metro.

Shroff also played a role as a Bricklaying expert to mentor the candidates with the Kushal team including Kavish Thakwani, Expert, Wall and Floor Tiling, Interpreter Milind Talathi and Pallavi Kothari.

The Indian Contingent participated in 44 skills including mobile robotics, prototype modelling, hairdressing, baking, confectionary and patisserie, welding, brick laying, car painting and floristry, wall and floor tiling among others at the competition.
