Pune: Trainee Aircraft Crash-Lands Near Baramati, Pilot Escapes Unhurt
Baramati, 13th May 2026: A trainee aircraft belonging to Redbird Aviation crash-landed near Gojubavi village in Baramati on Tuesday morning after reportedly developing a technical snag mid-flight. The trainee pilot on board escaped without any serious injuries, officials said.
The incident took place at around 8.50 am near the airport area adjacent to Gojubavi village. According to preliminary information, the training aircraft was flying at a relatively low altitude when it suffered a technical malfunction.
Eyewitnesses told police that while attempting an emergency landing, one side of the aircraft hit a light pole before the plane crashed onto the ground.
Officials said only a trainee pilot was present inside the aircraft at the time of the incident. The pilot survived the crash and no major injuries have been reported so far.
Police personnel rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the incident and began an inquiry. Further investigation into the exact cause of the crash landing is underway.
The incident created panic among residents of the area, with several locals gathering near the crash site shortly after the aircraft went down. Earlier this year on January 28, an aircraft carrying then Deputy CM Ajit Pawar had crashed in Baramati in which Pawar and others were killed.
