Rajgad, 10th February 2025: A 44-year-old trekker tragically died of a heart attack while trekking at Torna Fort in Rajgad (Velhe) taluka late on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as Ranjit Mohandas Shinde, a native of Songaon in Satara district, who was residing in Warje, Pune.

Shinde had visited the fort with his friend, Fazilat Khan, who reported the incident to the Velhe police station early Sunday morning. According to police sources, Shinde began experiencing severe chest pain and collapsed during the trek. Khan immediately contacted the police helpline at 112 around 10.30 p.m., prompting emergency services to initiate a rescue operation.

The Velhe police coordinated with the Disaster Management Team to assist in bringing Shinde down from the fort. A rescue team, including police constables Rohit Marbhal and Yuvraj Somvanshi, along with Tanhaji Bhosale, Ganesh Sapkal, Sanjay Chorge, Sandeep Solaskar, Dilip Talekar, Anil Renuse, and members of SL Adventure, reached the site.
