Pune: Truck Collides With Four Vehicles On Navale Bridge After Brake Failure

Narhe, 12th February 2023: On Saturday evening, the brakes of a speeding truck failed and it rammed into four vehicles near Navale bridge on the Mumbai-Bangalore bypass. Two people were injured in the accident and the police arrested the truck driver in this case.

The arrested truck driver has been identified as Pankaj Mohapatre (57), a resident of Umarga, Osmanabad.

A heavy truck (container) carrying fridges and household materials left Shirwal from the bypass route at around 7 pm. Bhumkar Bridge is at a distance from Navale Bridge. While the truck was coming to the service road, its brakes suddenly failed. The truck hit two cars, a rickshaw, and a two-wheeler in front of it.

Two people were injured in the accident. Citizens beat the truck driver after the accident. Those injured in the accident were rushed to the hospital. The truck driver Mohapatre told the police that the accident happened due to brake failure. “Mohapatre has been detained by the police,” said Shailesh Sankhe, senior police inspector of Sinhagad road police station.

A series of accidents continues on the outer ring road. Therefore, the police were appointed to plan the traffic on the bypass. Traffic police personnel Madhav Gopnar, Mahendra Raut, and Sushant Yadav saw that the brakes of the truck failed. The police immediately stopped the traffic on the service road. After the accident, there was a traffic jam for some time. Police cleared the traffic.
