Pune: Two Chinkara Killed During Hunting In Indapur, FIR Registered Against Unknown Persons

Indapur, 20th September 2021: Two Indian gazelle (Chinkara deer) were killed by hunters in Indapur taluka in the Pune district. The incident took place at the Kadbanwadi forest area which is also a reserved sanctuary, where over 1,000 Chinkara are found.

 

A case has been registered against three unknown persons and the police and forest department are investigating the case

According to officials, the incident took place around 6 am on September 18. An eyewitness told the department that there was firing from a luxurious four-wheeler and they hunted Chinkara.

Three of them got out of the car and put the Chinkara into the vehicle and drove away. A farmworker, who was just 100 feet away, saw another Chinkara hunting.

Activist Bhajandas Pawar demanded a quick and detailed investigation in this case.

 

Range forest officer of Indapur Ajit Suryavanshi said, “A case has been registered against three unknown people. A detailed investigation will be carried on in this regard.”
