Pune: Two College Students from Pimpri-Chinchwad Drown in Mulshi Dam

Mulshi, 17th February 2025: Two college students from Pimpri-Chinchwad drowned in the Mulshi Dam area yesterday. The incident occurred when a group of friends visited the dam for an outing.
The victims have been identified as Anish Raut (18) from Pimpri and Vishal Rathod (17) from Chinchwad. According to Police Reports, Anish and Vishal were students at a local college.
The group, consisting of eight friends, arrived at the Mulshi Dam area yesterday morning for a picnic. They entered the water in the Chachivali-Dhokalwadi area of the dam’s catchment for swimming. Anish and Vishal, unable to gauge the depth of the water, drowned.
Their companions immediately alerted residents and the police about the incident. Senior Police Inspector Santosh Girigosavi and Police Sub-Inspector Yogesh Jadhav from Paud Police Station, along with a team of divers from Hinjawadi, rushed to the scene.
Police and residents initiated a search operation for the two young men. However, as darkness fell, the search had to be suspended.
The other members of the group were identified as Govind Chakli, Jeet Londhe, Atharva Raut, Raj Yadav, Soham Jadhav, and Aditya Babar. The police are continuing the investigation into the incident.
