The accused were identified as Ravi Lingappa Devkar and Ajit Suresh Kadam.

With the Cricket World Cup in full swing, the city has been buzzing with excitement. The Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Gahunje is set to host five of these international matches. The India vs Bangladesh match, scheduled for today at 2 p.m., is the only one featuring the Indian team at this venue, drawing significant interest among cricket enthusiasts.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad police have ramped up security measures to prevent black-market ticket sales, with undercover officers patrolling the vicinity of the stadium for several days. Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch team discovered that tickets were being sold at inflated prices near Kohinoor Society at Mukai Chowk, Rawet.

Upon conducting a sting operation, the police arrested Devkar and Kadam and confiscated five tickets to the India vs Bangladesh match, along with two mobile phones worth ₹38,000 and ₹7,000 in cash. The total value of the seized items amounts to ₹51,000.

Further investigation revealed that an accomplice, Yunus Shaikh, had supplied the tickets to the arrested individuals. Accordingly, a case has been registered against all three for cheating at the Rawet police station.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Shinde, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Swapna Gore, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Satish Mane, Police Inspector Devendra Chavan, and Police Sub-Inspector Pradip Singh Sisode, among others.
