Pune: Two Men Posing As Police Steal Gold Jewellery Worth 1.35 Lakhs From Senior Citizen

Pune, 27th July 2022: Two men who pretended to be police officers defrauded an elderly resident of Pune’s Khed on Tuesday and stole his gold jewellery worth Rs. 1.35 lakh.

 

On Tuesday night, 60-year-old hardware store owner Jamaram Devasi filed an FIR at the Talegaon MIDC police station.

 

Devasi was reportedly stopped by two individuals posing as officers on Tuesday afternoon while he was riding a two-wheeler to carry a lunch box for his son. The two allegedly said that Devasi was instructed to take off his gold jewellery and wrap it in a handkerchief because the police were doing checks in the vicinity.

 

According to the authorities, the accused then grabbed the ornaments from Devasi while claiming to properly wrap them. They allegedly fooled him, took the ornaments, and fled.

 

The unidentified suspects has been charged by police with violating sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 170 (personating a public servant), and 34 (acts committed by multiple people in furtherance of a common intention).
