Pune: Two Successful Operations by Chakan Police: Five Arrested, 21 Vehicle Theft and Dacoity Cases Resolved
Chakan, 2nd September 2024: In two separate operations, the Detection Branch (DB) of Chakan Police Station, under the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC), has arrested five notorious criminals involved in vehicle theft and dacoity. Vehicles and stolen items worth a total of Rs 14 lakh have been seized. With these arrests, a total of 21 cases have been resolved.
In the vehicle theft cases, Chakan Police arrested Rahul Shivaji Rathod, Farukh Ansari Pathan, and Vishal Dilip Karpate. In the dacoity case, Vikas Ramesh Mohite and Mahesh Sanjay Daundkar were arrested.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Dr Shivaji Pawar, an investigation into the vehicle theft incident was underway as the PCPC jurisdiction has been experiencing numerous reports of vehicle thefts. Chakan Police were investigating the related cases. During the investigation, they meticulously analyzed nearly 400 CCTV recordings and conducted a technical investigation.
Based on information from a confidential source, the three accused—Rathod, Pathan, and Karpate—were identified. The police set a trap, detained them, and found the stolen vehicles in their possession. The accused confessed to the crimes, leading to the resolution of 17 cases: six from Chakan, three from Bhosari, two from Alandi, and one each from Mahalunge, Lonavala City, Khopoli, Solapur City, Khadan, and Karmad Police Stations. A total of twelve motorcycles and three auto-rickshaws, worth Rs 12,00,000, were recovered.
In the second operation, while investigating four dacoity cases, the DB of Chakan Police Station received information on September 24th from a trusted source that Mohite and Daundkar, involved in these dacoities, were in Daund. Police laid a trap and arrested both suspects. Initially, they provided vague responses; however, upon further interrogation, they confessed. Cash, a mobile phone, and jewellery worth Rs 2,00,000 were recovered from them, solving four cases.
These operations were conducted under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Dr. Shivaji Pawar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Chakan Division) Rajendra Singh Gaur. The Detection Branch team, led by Senior Police Inspector Pramod Wagh and Police Inspector (Crime) Natha Gharge, included Assistant Police Inspectors Prasanna Jarad and Ganpat Dhaygude, along with Police Constables Hanumant Kamble, Bhairoba Yadav, Sunil Shinde, Rushikumar Jhankar, Raju Jadhav, Nitin Gunjal, Sunil Bhagwat, Rewannath Khedkar, Sudarshan Barde, Mahadev Bikkad, Mahesh Koli, Sharad Khairnar, Kiran Ghodake, Madhuri Kachate, Usha Hole, Navnath Khedkar, Santosh Supekar, and Macchindra Ladke.
