Pune: Two-Wheeler Rider Dies in Accident with PMPML Bus in Chandannagar
Chandannagar, 12th December 2024: A road accident claimed the life of a two-wheeler rider after being struck by a PMPML bus at Tata Guardroom Chowk on Nagar Road early Wednesday morning. The Chandannagar police have registered a case against the bus driver.
The victim, identified as Ashok Devbahadur Gharti (32), a resident of Anand Park, Ganeshnagar, Vadgaon Sheri, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The accused, PMPML driver Ravindra Genba Gaikwad (40), a resident of Ambegaon Pathar, Dhankawadi, has been booked in connection with the accident.
According to the complaint filed by Ashok Gharti’s brother, Gopal Gharti (33), the accident occurred around 6 am on Wednesday when Ashok was traveling along Nagar Road. A speeding PMPML bus hit his two-wheeler at Tata Guardroom Chowk in the Chandannagar area. The impact left Gharti critically injured, and he died before medical assistance could be administered, police officials stated.
Assistant Inspector Dattaprasad Shendge is leading the investigation into the case.
