Undri, 24th December 2022: To wake up the slumbering municipal administration, the residents of Undri held a Jagran-Gondhal of Khanderaya and sang bhajans of Vitthala. However, the municipal administration has not paid heed, so the Undrikars continued their hunger strike even on the fifth day.

The officials of the municipality visited the hunger strike site and requested them to come to the municipality for discussion. However, the Undri Gaon Kriti Sangharsh Samiti has taken a firm stand that the officials should discuss the hunger strike.

NCP MLA Rohit Pawar met and interacted with the hunger strikers in Undri. There should not be one rule for Pimpri-Chinchwad municipality and a different one for other villages, Pawar stated. He assured that the demands of 34 villagers, including Undri, will be discussed with the Commissioner, and the matter will be raised in the Legislative Council.

NCP District President Pradeep Gartkar, Chairman of Agriculture Committee Shrirang Chavan-Patil, former corporator Prachi Alhat, and former president of G.P. Jalinder Kamthe supported the hunger strike of Undrikars. City President of NCP Prashant Jagtap interacted with the hunger strikers of Undri Gaon Kriti Sangharsh Samiti and said the matter will be resolved after a discussion with MP Supriya Sule and Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar.

Meanwhile, the hunger strikers have now taken the stand that they will not pay taxes until basic facilities, such as water, roads, health, electricity, and others, are provided. The villagers have kept the party and differences aside and intensified the hunger strike. Local citizens, with 12 Wadas, will take to the streets tomorrow (Sunday, 25th December) to support the hunger strikers.
