Bavdhan, February 13, 2021: The construction of a two-storey flyover at Chandani Chowk has gained momentum in the last few as issues related to the land acquisition process have been resolved. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari reviewed the flyover project on Saturday.

A two-storey flyover will be constructed in Chandni Chowk to alleviate traffic congestion in the area including Chandni Chowk, Kothrud, Warje, and Baner. The bridges will be linked to Mumbai, Satara, Mulshi, and Kothrud from Chandni Chowk.

Gadkari informed that the revised deadline to complete the project is 2023. “The issues related to the land acquisition process for the flyover project have been resolved and we will attempt to complete the project within a year,” he said.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the flyover was held on August 27, 2017, in presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Some bungalows were to be acquired for the project along with the land acquisition of 13.92 hectares of land for the flyover bridge.

However, the work on the flyover has been delayed for three years due to problems in the land acquisition process. Then municipal commissioner and the present Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao had followed up with then chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. The previous state government had decided to support the project financially and avoid any delay in its implementation. After which, the municipal corporation appointed a committee to begin the process of land acquisition.
