Pune, 19 April 2021: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has so far caught 150 students for cheating during the ongoing online exams. The tests have been conducted since April 10 using the proctored method.

Pune University has started the first-semester examination of students of affiliated colleges in Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik districts.

A large number of students were also found cheating during final year exams in September last year. After that, SPPU started using the proctored method to keep a watch on students during online exams.

According to SPPU officials, out of 150 students, 74 were caught on the same day of the examination. Many students were found searching for answers on the internet, others took a screenshot of the question paper and sent it to others for answers. Some students also appeared for exams sitting in groups. The examination department will call these students before the grievance redressal committee and take action.

Today, a total of 1.42 lakh students (96%) appeared for the exams.
