Pune University Bans Entry To Outsiders Amidst Surging COVID Cases
Pune, 5 April 2021: As the number of COVID cases in Pune continues to rise amidst the strict restrictions imposed by the Maharashtra Government, the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) administration has decided not to give entry to outsiders in the university premises.
SPPU Registrar Dr Prafulla Pawar has appealed that except for the officials, professors and other employees working at the university, no one else will be allowed to enter the premises. All the affiliated colleges have also been asked not to send their professors and other employees to the university, and instead communicate through email or telephone.
The decision was made following the instances of COVID infection among some university employees. The university also said that more people visiting from outside were found to have COVID, as compared to those residing on the premises.
The university has also begun a vaccination drive for all its officials, other employees and their kin with the help of Seth Tarachand Ramnath Ayurvedic Hospital Trust. Also, only 50 percent of the employees will be allowed to work at a time.
