Pune, 26 February, 2021: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) had previously announced an online examination for all the semesters. However, the appointment of a private company to conduct the online exam has come to a standstill. Thus, the company’s appointment and the resurgence of Coronavirus disease (COVID19) cases are likely to delay the examination.

Earlier, the university hired a company, with one year contract, to conduct the final year exams online. After the final year examination, the work of grade improvement and examination of the remaining students was also to be done by the same company. Now the university was planning to conduct the exams offline. However, due to the academic year’s delay and the fact that the academic year is online, the examination and evaluation board of the university decided to conduct the exam online considering the demand of the students.

University decided to conduct the examination in a protracted manner and include multiple-choice questions and long questions. It was announced that the first year examination would be held from March 30, the second and the final year examination from March 15. Applications for the exam were then opened to the students.

The process of hiring a new company for the examination is underway even though the previous company’s contract is for one year. Therefore, the appointment of a new company and the examination process of the selected company may take some time to adapt to the system.

SPPU Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. N S Umrani said that probable dates of the examination have already been announced. The company hiring process is an internal matter. Corona outbreak can have some effect on the examination process.
