Pune, 30th October 2024: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is set to strengthen its global presence by opening new sub-centers in Georgia, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Kazakhstan. This expansion follows the successful establishment of a sub-center in Qatar three years ago.
On Saturday, 26th October, the SPPU Management Council officially approved the plan to open these new international sub-centers. The initiative aligns with the university’s vision to extend its educational influence globally.
A few months ago, the governments and academic authorities of Georgia, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Kazakhstan reached out to SPPU, expressing interest in hosting university sub-centers. Responding positively, the university has now taken concrete steps towards this expansion.
According to Dr. Vijay Khare, Director of the International Centre at SPPU, Vice-Chancellors and representatives from the four countries visited Pune University approximately three months ago. During this visit, preliminary discussions were held regarding the establishment of sub-centers. With the Management Council’s approval, the university is now poised to proceed with the next steps in its global expansion plan.
