Pune University: Final Notice Issued To Over 500 Students To Vacate Their Hostel Rooms

Pune, January 26, 2021: The hostels of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has been locked for the last ten months. During this period, the final year examinations were held. The students who have passed the examination have not vacant the hostel. More than 500 students are yet to vacate their rooms. University administration will issue a notice to such students for the fourth time.

While the students who have completed their studies have not left the hostel, Pune University is equipping hostels for newly admitted students. Many students from rural Maharashtra and other states apply to Pune University for higher education. This year, despite the coronavirus’s influence, more than 25,000 students had applied for postgraduate and diploma admissions in various departments of the university. The admission process has been completed, and students’ admission has also been confirmed.

Pune University prior decided to start offline education in the university from January 11, but due to the state government’s opposition, the date was postponed. The state government may decide to start colleges, so the university administration has begun preparations to provide hostels for the newly arrived students.

The hostel department made arrangements to empty the stuff of students who have completed their education. During the lockdown, many students took their belongings with them. Out of 1,469 students, belongings 525 students are still in their hostel rooms. Nine hundred seventy students have vacated their rooms, while 373 rooms are vacant.

Sachin Ballal, Head of Head Hostel, Pune University, said, “Students who have completed their education have already been instructed to vacate the room. But some students have not taken their stuff yet. For this, they have been given a deadline till January 27. Students whose luggage is still in their room will be emptied, and all the stuff will be kept together.”
