Pune University Gets Digital Training Lab For Students With Disabilities To Them Employable

Pune, 18th April 2022: Savitribai Phule Pune University has got a new Digital Training facility at the Centre for Disability Studies and Inclusive Education, School of Education.

The new Digital Training facility is sponsored by Capgemini technology services India Ltd as part of Corporate Social Responsibility which involves 25 desktop computers, Other Digital Laboratory equipment and salary grant of two IT trainers, one soft skill trainer and one admin staff at the centre. The plan is to impart professional IT training to students with disabilities and make them employable. This will be an equal opportunity provided to them to break the cycle of poverty by having a sustainable income source, officials said.

Savitribai Phule Pune University has collaborated with the Youth for Jobs foundation for ICT and Assistive technology training for students with disabilities of the university and its affiliated institutes of higher education. Both the organizations collaboratively run short duration certificate training programs to impart job-oriented skills to students with disabilities in the new facility at the centre. Youth for Jobs foundation is a national level organization founded by Meera Shenoy and it is working for the employment of persons with disabilities has several such programs running in 37 cities in pan India.
