Pune University Partners with A-Star Academy for Industry-Integrated Hospitality Programmes
Pune, 14th August 2025: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and A-Star Academy have entered into a landmark academic collaboration aimed at setting new benchmarks in industry-integrated hospitality education in India.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at SPPU’s historic main building in the office of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Suresh Gosavi, who represented the university. Romie Dutt, Executive Director of Aamby Valley City and Hotel Sahara Star, signed on behalf of A-Star Academy. Also present was Prashant Kumar, Chief Marketing Officer of Aamby Valley.
Under the partnership, a range of degree, diploma, and certificate programmes will be introduced, starting with a three-year Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Hospitality Studies. SPPU will serve as the degree, diploma, and certificate awarding body, while A-Star Academy will act as the academic delivery partner.
An initiative of Aamby Valley City and Hotel Sahara Star, A-Star Academy aims to redefine hospitality education through experiential, hands-on learning. The academy integrates real-world exposure with academic learning, ensuring students are immersed in industry environments from the outset.
The curriculum—designed and delivered by practicing hospitality professionals—focuses on relevance, practical competence, and global applicability. Students will acquire both theoretical knowledge and operational expertise essential for success in the sector.
Speaking about the collaboration, the institutions emphasised their shared vision of bridging the gap between education and employability, while fostering leadership, innovation, and industry readiness.
With this initiative, SPPU and A-Star Academy aim to create a new standard in hospitality education—where academic learning is seamlessly aligned with real-world excellence.
