Pune’s Maval Region to Get Wider Bypass Roads, Better Planning Through TP Scheme
Pune, 14th August 2025: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has approved the implementation of a new Town Planning (TP) scheme to facilitate the development of 65-metre-wide bypass roads in the Maval region. The scheme aims to address traffic congestion while ensuring the creation of a well-planned urban area with modern infrastructure.
As part of the initiative, a meeting was held on Thursday at the PMRDA office to brief farmers from the villages of Dhamane, Godumbare, Darumbre, Salumbre, and Sangwade about the provisions, policies, objectives, and maps of the proposed TP scheme. Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase assured that no land would be acquired without the consent of the farmers, and all doubts would be addressed before moving forward. “The process will only proceed through mutual coordination, and all affected farmers will be consulted. This TP scheme will lead to the development of a well-planned city, benefiting everyone with the expected facilities,” Dr. Mhase said.
The meeting was held in the presence of Maval MLA Sunil Shelke, who stressed the need to protect farmers’ interests during the implementation of the scheme. “Land acquisition must be carried out only after understanding farmers’ concerns and ensuring coordination. The government must also ensure timely planning and fair compensation,” he said.
Dr. Mhase explained that the TP scheme is being implemented in phases by the government to address traffic bottlenecks, with PMRDA planning similar projects in Dhamane, Godumbare, Darumbre/Salumbre, Sangwade, and Nere villages. He reiterated that the process would remain transparent and farmer-friendly.
During the meeting, Shweta Patil, Joint Metropolitan Planner from the Urban Planning Department, delivered a detailed presentation on the TP scheme’s layout, benefits, and execution plan. She outlined how the project would improve infrastructure and enhance connectivity in the region.
Additional Metropolitan Commissioner Deepak Singla, Development Permission and Planning Director Avinash Patil, PMRDA officials, and local farmers attended the meeting.
