Pune University Receives ‘Leaders’ Status For Its Innovation, Incubation And Linkages

Pune, 12th May 2021: Savitribai Phule Pune University has received the ‘leaders’ status from Maharashtra State Innovation Hub. Similarly, it has received the seed funds required for its development.

The state innovation hub encourages universities, incubation centres and companies for innovation. In a recently held review meeting, the innovation hubs were divided into ‘beginners’, ‘emerging’ and ‘leaders’ categories.

“SPPU was selected under ‘leaders’, category considering its progress”, innovation, incubation and linkages director Apoorva Palkar informed. She said that this status will help to guide and encourage newer innovations.

She informed, “Infofest 2021 will be held from June 7 to 17 to provide guidance for new ventures. A mentorship programme will also be held. Nearly 60 companies have registered their participation.”

Vice-chancellor Nitin Karmalkar said, “We have been encouraging the innovation hubs which will create newer jobs. Getting this status is the first step in this direction. We have to go miles”.
