Pune University To Conduct Semester Exams Online From March 15 Through Proctored Method

Pune, February 10, 2021: The examination board of the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has decided to conduct the semester exams of undergraduate and post-graduate courses through online mode from March 15.

The first year examinations will be held from March 30 and the second to final year examinations will be held from March 15. A detailed time-table will be declared in March.

However, the students will be allowed to appear for exams on their laptop/tab or they will be called to the college/university centre, will be decided in the next few days. The exams will be conducted through the proctored method and after five warnings for misconduct, the exam for the student will be closed. A meeting was held in this regard on February 9.

Mahesh Kakade, Director, Board of Examinations and Evaluation, SPPU, said that a sub-committee has been formed to decide whether the exams will be conducted at the college level or individual student will be allowed to appear for the exam on his/her mobile phone. The committee will submit a report in three days.

According to officials, except the final year, exams for other exams will have multiple-choice questions (MCQ) for one hour and 50 marks. The final year exams will be for 70 marks which include 50 marks MCQs for one hour and 20 marks written examination for 30 minutes. For the written examination, the students will have to answer four out of five questions and each answer should be in maximum 30 words. The students will be required to write the answer on a paper, scan and generate its QR Code which will have to be uploaded with the answersheet. The students and professors will be given training for this purpose.

About 6.5 lakhs students will appear for the semester exams. Till now three lakh students have filled the exam form. The exams will be conducted for 7500 subjects in Marathi and English mediums.
