Pune University Warns Colleges to Fill Vacant Posts or Face Action
Pune, 5th March 2025: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has issued a stern warning to its affiliated colleges and recognized institutes, directing them to immediately fill vacant positions for Directors, Principals, and Professors. Failure to comply will result in punitive action, including the suspension of online services for the concerned institutions.
A circular regarding the recruitment process for regular Principals, Directors, and Professors was issued on June 11, 2024, to affiliated colleges across Pune, Nashik, and Ahilyanagar districts. However, the university has observed that many institutions have not adhered to these directives.
In response, Deputy Registrar S.D. Davkhar has issued a fresh circular emphasizing the necessity of recruiting adequate teaching and non-teaching staff, as mandated by the University Act and in coordination with the state government. The circular highlights that sufficient manpower is crucial to ensuring quality teaching, training, and research across various courses.
SPPU has reiterated that all affiliated colleges and recognized institutions must comply with the recruitment directive to maintain academic standards and avoid disciplinary action.
